HISTORY

Schola Cantorum has through the last decade proved themselves to be one of the finest chamber choirs
in Norway. The choir was founded by the composer and conductor Knut Nystedt in 1964, and has given
valuable musical experience to generations of Norwegian musicians. Affiliated with the University of Oslo,
Department of Musicology, the choir recruits most of their singers from this institution, and the Norwegian
Academy of Music. The repertoire consists of a mix of contemporary and older choir music, as well as folk
music arrangements. In recent years the choir has increasingly focused on commissioned works from young
Nordic composers.

Schola Cantorum has performed in many parts of the world, most recently in South Korea, Denmark and Russia
in 2008, Finland in 2009 and in Sweden and Italy in 2010. The Choir has also participated in several international
chamber choir competitions. Among their prestigious awards are the Grand Prize in Tolosa 2005, and the Silver
Rose Bowl in "Let the Peoples Sing", Wuppertal 2007. Schola has released three CDs, the latest, "Audiens",
in 2009 on the record label 2Lwith music by Whitacre, Lauridsen, Dyrud, Rehnqvist and Christophersen.
